A Brief History

We began as the Church of Beethoven, created by Felix Wurman (1958-2009) in February 2008. A gathering of musicians, eventually poets, and an audience of about 20 people met at The Filling Station in the Barelas neighborhood of downtown Albuquerque, NM. From the beginning, the experience included inspiring music, well-played . . . plus creative coffee and poetry or other spoken-word performances.

By spring 2009, we had outgrown The Filling Station and moved to The Kosmos, an old warehouse with artist studios and a large, barreled-arch space with good acoustics. Volunteers scraped and cleaned and painted the large space and it became home. Each week professional musicians and poets perform to audiences of 100-140 enchanted people of all ages.

In December 2011 we adopted the new name, Sunday Chatter, as a way of connecting our three different series:
Sunday Chatter, Chatter Cabaret and Chatter 20-21.
